In-house training
Vestbris Simulator and Training Centre
Numerous mandatory training courses for seafarers are required to comply with regulations in the Oil and Gas industry; courses are located in different locations and countries. In addition to mandatory training, Island Offshore has established an in-house training centre, “Vestbris,” to offer more individual training and to facilitate the development of best practices using cutting-edge simulator technology.
Our objective is not only to meet the mandatory training needs of Island Offshore seafarers but also to challenge best practices and bring a competitive edge to training and competence enhancement.
This strategy will imply a combination of in-house training activities and cooperation efforts with external training providers to ensure that our total training offer is attractive. At present, we cooperate with the Offshore Simulator Center (OCS) in Ålesund and Fosnavåg Ocean Centre.
Being suitably trained is one of the key components of a worker’s competence. All seafarers must be adequately qualified and possess sufficient experience. Introducing simulator training allows officers and crane and gangway operators to gain valuable experience.
The simulators installed at Vestbris are developed by the Offshore Simulator Center (OSC), featuring cutting-edge simulator technology, which includes a dome solution used for AHC Crane operations. In addition to the dome, two able-bodied seaman stations, an instructor station, and a bridge simulator are installed at our training facilities in Ulsteinvik.
A learning organization
Operational improvement, leadership and technology are key success factors for Island Offshore. In our training all these factors are represented; making us better at what we do.
