A second new build for Island Offshore!
Today, we have signed a new contract with VARD for the delivery of an additional Offshore Energy Construction Vessel (OECV)! This will be the sister vessel to Island Evolution, with similar equipment and solutions. The vessel is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2027 and will be a new and important contribution to the renewal of Island Offshore’s fleet.
"I am proud and happy that we are making this happen! A better market allows us to invest. These are significant and important investments for Island Offshore, and we are fortunate to have ambitious owners who choose to invest," says Tommy Walaunet, Managing Director of Island Offshore Management AS.
The vessel is of the VARD 3 25 design and has been developed in close collaboration between Island Offshore and the designer. The ship is very flexibly equipped and can perform a range of subsea operations including IMR (inspection, maintenance, and repair), pipe laying, installation of underwater infrastructure, and diver support. It is also equipped for remotely operated underwater inspections. The vessel is prepared for various maritime operations related to the renewable energy market, such as walk-to-work, commissioning and maintenance of offshore wind installations, cable laying, and repair.
The hull will be built at one of VARD's shipyards in Romania, while the final outfitting will be carried out at one of VARD's shipyards in Norway.
